Anita Novey believes the human spirit has the capacity to overcome even the most entrenched challenges and that nurturing that spirit is central to lasting change. For three decades she worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, bringing focused treatment and supervision to adults in correctional settings. Since 1998 she served as a Drug Treatment Specialist, working primarily with adult male offenders who struggled with substance use disorders. In the seven years before that she worked in human resources and unit management. She concluded that chapter of her career following mandatory retirement, having found the work meaningful and rewarding.

Although addiction treatment was principally informed by cognitive-behavioral techniques, her clinical practice also addressed grief, loss, and a broad range of relationship concerns. She has taken particular satisfaction in helping people rediscover their potential and regain control of their lives.

Her academic background includes a Master of Arts in Personnel and Organizational Psychology earned in 1992 from the University of Central Oklahoma, and a Bachelor of Business Administration completed in 1988 from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. She holds the LPC credential - Licensed Professional Counselor - and brings years of experience working with addiction, grief, relationship issues, and related concerns.
