Dr. Ryan Knutson , LPC

Dr. Ryan Knutson is a Wisconsin-licensed counselor with more than a decade of clinical experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in mental health counseling, and a doctorate in counselor education and supervision, and he brings that combination of academic training and hands-on practice to his work with individuals and families.

He holds credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), and an Independent Clinical Supervisor (ICS) - indicating professional licensure, specialized training in substance use treatment, and qualification to supervise other clinicians, respectively. Over his career he has practiced in diverse settings including correctional facilities, outpatient clinics, group homes, and through volunteer counseling at the Salvation Army, experiences that inform a practical, flexible approach to care.

His theoretical foundation includes cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered work, motivational interviewing, and strength-based methods, and he selects techniques that best match each person’s needs. He has served as a clinical supervisor for more than seven years and has taught at the graduate level as an adjunct instructor.
